My favorite pic I took from the 1st half of ’12. Sunday Night Baseball, 5/20/2012 !!! Down 5-3 with 2 out in the bottom of the 7th, Scott Van Slyke, called up from Albuquerque, pinch hits for Adam Kennedy. Given the green light on a 3-0 pitch, Van Slyke drills a 3 run shot to the Left Field Pavillion for his first big league homer, giving the Dodgers a 6-5 lead over the defending World Champion Cardinals, the team whom his father Andy started his career with. ( Andy would be known for his days with the Pirates. Andy was in the stands to see his kid drill his first big league round tripper ). The Dodgers would hold on and win 6-5 giving them a 3 game sweep over the champs, whom they’ve now defeated 7 in a row going back to last season. As for the pic above, this is something we saw a lot in the first half and doesn’t it seem like we saw a different trio each time ? Here we see Ethier, Gwynn and Van Slyke, who stayed in the game from the 8th inning on and certainly deserved to be part of this victory ritual. Well, we certainly look forward to having Matt Kemp back as well as Andre Ethier and hopefully we see a lot more of this in the 2nd half, with The Bison in this pic. 1st half of the season is in the books, and The Blue, in spite of the numerous injuries especially to Kemp, Ethier and more recently Dee Gordon, have somehow managed to hang on to 1st place heading to the All Star game. Looking forward to the 2nd half. GO DODGERS !!!!
