Both the Dodgers and Braves come into the postseason having struggled in the month of September, with the boys from Georgia posting a 13-14 mark while the Boys in Blue posted a 12-15 mark. In spite of the fact that the Dodgers will not have Matt Kemp and are still uncertain about Andre Ethier’s status, the bookends have still tabbed them as the favorites to win the series, prompting some Braves players to play the “us against the world” card
. And with Kershaw and Greinke tabbed to go in Games 1 and 2, it would be easy why many are overlooking the fact that the Dodgers potential injury woes heading into Thursday’s matchup. However, the Braves do match up well against the Blue and did take the season series 5 games to 2, albeit the 3 game sweep back in May down south came without Hanley’s presence in the lineup, Puig had not been up at the big show yet, and of course the sweep came during the Dodgers early season stumble. So, how do the Dodgers and Braves matchup heading into today ? As said earlier, having Kershaw and Greinke, possibly the best 1-2 combo in the game today start off the series is a great confidence booster for the Blue. Offensively the Braves boast higher power numbers than the Dodgers but have trouble manufacturing runs. I see a low scoring series between the 2 teams and it could come down to either the bench or the bullpens. My Pick…. i'm sticking with my earlier post, Dodgers in 5….
In and Around Turner Field, May 2007
From a kid running the basepaths in the skyfield with his souvenier tomahawk to Dale Murphy’s retired number and of course we can’t forget Hammerin’ Hank. Oh yeah, I had to pay a visit to the old infield layout across the street where old Fulton County Stadium resided and picture Hammerin’ Hank circling the bases after belting 715. And of course, me tagging Turner Field with my Dodger Blue as I capture a tomahawk thrown at me…. ( Not really thrown at me…LOL….)
Oh yeah, The Beat L.A. chant. Originated in Boston Garden, a familiar sight to L.A. teams with a great history of chmapionships. Somehow I don’t see the laid back citizens from the Peach Tree state yelling this with such fervor, if at all….
OK…. Here we go….Time to STOP THE CHOP !!!!
