Drei’s Four Days of May to Drei’s SUN-DAY, FUN-DREI

Leading Off…

Drei_Mickey Hatcher Prior to the Thursday evening game against the Rockies on 5/14, former Dodger and current assistant to the G.M. Mickey Hatcher was signing autographs as well as taking pics. Hatcher was one of many unsung heroes during the magical 1988 season. Hatcher, known for his happy go lucky/goofball like character on the field, is just as much a goofball off it as well. Great to see you back in Blue, Mickey !!!

Day 1… Thursday, 5/14/2015… Rain Showers Over The Ravine…

This day would be the first of 4 straight days of baseball for D-Drei, with 3 of these 4 at The Ravine. Night one would bring Drei a rare experience at The Ravine, as heavy rain would descend upon the southland causing a delay of just over 90 minutes. I’ve been coming games at The Ravine since 1982. This has to be the heaviest downpour I have ever experienced at The Ravine…

DREI_MARLZ_SERGIO Kicking it with Sir G-O and Kid Marly before heading for cover ( This again is one of those rare sites where we’re bundled in layers of clothing at a Dodger game…)

DODGERS_5 14 KID AT HEART Of course… KID N DREI… Kids at Heart…

Day 2…Friday, 5/15/2015… A Lesson in Lawn Care and a Trip to The Beach

The day would start off at The StubHub Center as I had the opportunity to take a tour of the facility for a news item for Stadium Journey Magazine. Shaun Ilten, head facilities groundskeeper manager of the StubHub Center, explains to us why greener grass is not always a good thing…

Later that evening I would take in a college baseball game at Blair Field in Long Beach. Blair Field is the home of Long Beach State Dirtbags. Blair Field will be going through some renovations during this off-season. With the Rockies in town, it was appropriate that we give a mention to Troy Tulowitzky. Troy, a one-time Dirtbag, recently pledged $1 million to assist with the renovation efforts.

TULO Troy Tulowitzky, a proud Dirtbag…

On a personal note, I also had the opportunity to take the lil’ bro to see his alma matre play just one week before he gets his graduate masters degree in Business Administration from Brandman…

TULO_PRESS BOX View from the press box. As you can see, we’re also keeping an eye on the Dodgers/Rockies game, with the one-time Dirtbag Troy Tulowitzky at the dish…

Thanks to Sam Dores, Associate Manager of Stadium Operations, I had the opportunity earlier in the season to check out Blair Field and give my review for Stadium Journey .

Day 3…Saturday, 5/16/2015… Honoring Dodgers Glory

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1965 World Champion team, among those honored was of course, Sandy Koufax…

KOUFAX Sandy Koufax, as seen from behind the 3rd base dugout. Sandy would pitch the deciding Game 7 of the 1965 World Series against the Minnesota Twins on 2 days rest…

An old-timers game also took place as well, with players mostly from the 80s and beyond doing the honors, including among others, Rick Monday, Erik Karros, Ron Cey, Steve Sax, Orel Hershiser, Mickey Hatcher, and Pedro Guerrero. Being a kid in the 80s, this really was a trip back to my childhood…

BULLDOG_FERNIE Fernando and Orel. They we’re quite a 1-2 tandem…

PUIG_GUERRERO Yesterday and Today… Pedro Guerrero and Yasiel Puig

Day 4… Another SUN-DAY, FUN-DREI

Back at The Yard…

The final day of Drei’s Four Days of May to Drei’s SUN-DAY, FUN-DREI, as the Dodgers would wrap up their 4 game series against the Rockies. For the second straight game, the offense would struggle, however, thanks to some outstanding pitching, including Kenley Jansen’s first save of the season, the Dodgers would prevail, 1-0.

CUBAN DOG The homestand special. Looks like it’s easy enough to prepare…

sticky ribs OK, this one looks like the preparation will require more effort. Oh, the culinary arts lessons we can learn at The Old Ballgame. Speaking of the culinary arts, check out The Culinary Isle, a culinary food blog by my good friend Jonathan Revies . Jonathan is a recent culinary program graduate of Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona who will be working on several projects for the American Cuinary Federation Chefs Association of Southern Arizona Tucson ( ACF-CASA  ) .

DREI_81 88 Between ’81 and ’88, the two I’ve witnessed. I never would have thought I would be waiting 27 years and still counting. Is this finally our year ?

9th Inning… From Dance Cam to Kiss Cam

Want more from Kid N Drei ? Check out our “unofficial” reality series from Dodger Stadium, The Ravine Life, bringing you what it’s like to be at the game’s with Kid N Drei throughout the season, with Kid Marly Marlz showing how even in your 30’s, one can still be a kid at The Old Ballgame, as well as Drei STILL tyring to prove he should be in the broadcast booth ( LOL ) among other features and hijinx that happen with Kid N Drei inside the hallowed wall’s of Chavez Ravine. Everything is filmed with Drei’s Droid so as to give everyone the actual ” reality ” feel minus the multiple camera’s and scripts and of course the obvious flaws…
