Leaping Back To 2006

Happy Leap Day baseball fans ! Oh the anticipation for those two magical words to be yelled.. PLAY BALL ! On this Leap Day, let’s take a leap back to 2006, my first season blogging. The season prior to ’06 was a disaster, the Dodgers finishing 71-91, Jim Tracey, after 6 seasons as the Dodgers skipper was sent packing along with GM  Paul DePodesta. There we’re those questions whether The Blue would be able to bounce back in ’06. Here’s an excerpt from what I wrote prior to the 2006 season…

” IF,  Derek Lowe, probably our Opening Day starter,  can regain control of his sinker and cut his home run total down from last season, Brad Penny and Odallis Perez can actually stay healthy for most of the season, Bret Thomko, who has good success at Chavez Ravine, can provide a possible replacement for Jeff Weaver as our ironman, and Jay Seo continues his tear from last season.  The bullpen is still without questions, with Eric Gagne coming back from arm surgery.  Can Yhency Brazoban bounce back from last seasons disaster and regain his confidence as a setup man for Gagne?  What will be Danys Baez’s roll be should Gagne regain his form by Opening Day.  Is Baez here to keep the spot warm for Gagne until he is fully recovered? “

What else did I say prior to the 2006 season ? Would we be Back In Contention For ’06 ? Click on the link to find out what else Drei said. You will also notice some names I did not mention, particularly 2 outfielders who would eventually develop into future starting roles but had little or no knowledge of at the time. 06odallis Odallis Perez, Camera Day, 2006. He was at one time one of our more reliable starters…
