Hot Dogs and Independence Day

Leading Off…

DODGERS_ODAY 2010 FLAG

Of course we all know there is more to Independence Day than just hot dogs and fireworks. As always, we thank the men and women who have fought to defend our great country since 1776. America has and will always be great…

Battle of the Dogs… The Filipino Dog vs. The Colorado Dog

As we celebrate America’s birthday, many of you will be chowing down on your share of encased meats. Some of you will no doubt be taking part in some back yard hot dog eating contest, no doubt walking it off on your way to the fireworks show at your neighborhood park.

The sausage has come a long way since it’s invention, with it’s accouterments going beyond the relish, mustard and ketchup. Even with the vast dining options the hot dog still remains the most consumed food item inside the ballpark.

The Dodger Dog. A longtime staple inside the walls of Chavez Ravine. A favorite among many a Dodger fan. As for me, I tend to lean more toward the Super Dodger Dog. For only a buck more, you get a beefier and tastier dog.

On certain nights, a specialty super dog is served. The specialty dog will be themed around that specific game’s heritage night, the opponent or sometimes both. The specialty dog’s, like most baseball stats, are hit and miss, such as The Pike Dog (Mariners) and The Philly Dog (Phillies)

On this Friday evening, during Filipino Night in celebration of Philippine Independence Day,  with the Colorado Rockies in town in a battle of 2 of baseball’s top teams, both the Filipino Dog and the Colorado Dog would be served.

BATTLE OF THE DODGER DOGS

BATTLE OF THE DODGER DOGS_FILIPINO AND COLORADO DOGS

So, in the battle of the dogs, which dog would come out the top dog? FYI, it has not “officially” been confirmed yet whether future Colorado Dog’s will topped off with Rocky Mountain Oysters

Ballpark Bites…Strolling The Garden at AT&T Park

Over the years the ballpark experience has evolved. Ballpark dining is no exception. Social and dining areas can be found in most parks for fans to stroll the yard. At AT&T Park, the concept of a social dining area within the ballpark may have been taken another level. At the home of our rivals, beyond the center field fence is The Garden at AT&T Park. At The Garden, fans have the opportunity to dine along communal tables surrounded by crops of fruits, vegetables and herbs. Most of these communal tables have a bed of herbs that allow fans to pick and use for garnish.

20170425_171533Herb bed. Hey, a little strawberry is starting to bloom…

I had a chance to sample some of the goodies from The Garden Table and The Hearth Table, the two food stands at The Garden at AT&T Park, ranging from the anitpasta bar to a crisp and tasty Roasted Summer Vegetable Sandwich, 3 different flatbreads and a very summery (Dodger) Blueberry Shortcake.

ATTPark_Food Spread w Magic and Dog Thats quite a spread. Behind this spread is in the middle of the communal dining table is an herb bed where fans are allowed to pick their herbs. The Magic Gnome and Blue Dog seem quite impressed with this spread

The 3 flatbreads in the spread are the garden cauliflower with olive oil, parmesan cheese, chive mascarpone and truffle oil, a house-made fennel sausage with roasted eggplant, caramelized leeks and goat cheese, and a grilled garden zucchini with shaved parmesan, olive oil, garden thyme and toasted almonds.

I had a hard time determining which of the three flatbreads we’re my favorite. In the end, the cauliflower topped my list.

For desert, a blueberry shortcake topped with whipped cream (Or Dodger Blueberry)

The garden is also equipped with The Ketel One Bar, serving local beer and wine and other mixed drinks.

With the garden and the garden’s dining area located directly behind the center field fence, a safety net is provided above the fans for their protection. Even with the net, every now and then a baseball will land there…

My one regret upon my visit to The Garden at AT&T Park, aside from being surrounded by Halloween colors…LOL, is not having the opportunity to try some of the other offerings. Perhaps if I’m fortunate to return in September I can try some of the late summer/early fall offerings.

I had the chance to interview Hannah Schmunk, Manager of Food Education for Children with Bon Appetit Management Company. Among the many topics we had the chance to discuss we’re the change in crops throughout the season, as well as her work along with  current and Giants players  with the kids throughout the community in advocating healthy eating. You can listen to the interview on my podcast below…

Throughout the year, aside from serving hungry baseball fans, the garden serves as an educational tool for the community as well as an outdoor classroom for kids throughout the community…

With our Boys In Blue returning to AT&T Park in less than 2 weeks, for you fellow Dodger fans who may be making the trek up north, do take the time to stop by The Garden and try out some of their delicious offerings. One visit and you will definitely agree that dining in an open garden inside a Major League ballpark is one “hella” unique experience. (To use a Bay Area term…)

3rd Inning…Kid Feeling Some Heat…On The Hot Seat

On this hot Thursday afternoon on the 24th of September and a rare Thursday afternoon home game for The Blue, DDrei here decides to put Marley on the hot seat. Well, Drei tries to anyways. Marley, aside from being a big Dodger fan, is also a musical artist as well. Aside from his video above, Cruising Like Music, Marley also completed another beat only with a special message, which Drei will feature in a later post. So, how hot was the hot seat from Drei ?

As for the game, though Kershaw would strike out 9 in 5 innings, he would find himself down 3-0 heading to the home 5th before being pulled for a pinch hitter, not making Kid K all to happy with Don Mattingly. However all worked out well, and all ended well, thanks in large part to, of all people, Chris Heisey…  Gotta love those unsung September heroes…

5th Inning…Cruising…From Angels Point…

So there you have it. Kid N Drei. A couple of  30 and over Dodger fans ( OK, Drei is well past 30…LOL…)  making the most of a full day together with Kid, and Drei, acting all young and like, well, kids. Let’s see…Dodger game, a mobile video shoot at Angels Point, dinner at K-Town, a walk through the park, playing around Urban Lights and acting like…Kids…  Yeah, this was quite a, shall I say it, a Bromance Thursday ?  Hey, every male Dodger fan, heck, every male sports fan for that matter, should have that one broham that you enjoy spending quality time with that involves more than a ballgame right ? Of course the ballpark is never a bad place to spend part of your bromance. The good times never get old do they kid ?

Ballparks, Bytes and Bites, A Sunday Fun-Dre at The Park, From the 619

What up everyone ! We’re Baaaaaack !!! Kid Marly Marlz and DodgerDrei here, aka Kid N Drei, back here for one last edition, road edition at least, of Ballparks, Bytes, and Bites , this time coming to you from the 619. PETCO Park, San Diego, C-A. Of course, as always, BB&B….

MARLZ_BUBBLES_PETCO Featuring Kid Marly Marlz, of House Party fame ( I Think ) ready to throw a Foam Party. ( Something about Dodger Blue and Foam Parties)

Sunday, 8/31. On this, what Drei here likes to call, Sunday Fun-Dre , on this last Sunday Fun-Dre for summer 2014, Kid N Drei take to the road this time with our buddy Jose, aka JJ as we make the 2 hour plus trek down I-5 to PETCO Park in San Diego. Before heading south…

PORTOS

PORTOS_MINION We decide to make a quick stop for some morning munchies. Hey, can you blame our Pet Minion Dave (whom you will see later as well) for being so happy?  After all, we’re grabbing them munchies from Porto’s . For those of you not familiar with Porto’s, perhaps these reviews may help . FYI, the reviews itself don’t say enough about Porto’s, and I’ve been told even from The Kid that I’m a tough critic…

PORTOS_CHEESEBALLS Porto’s famous potato cheeseballs and chicken croquets. To the surprise of Drei and JJ, Kid Marlz never knew of Porto’s before this day…

Kid Marlz: What’s Portos ?
Drei: Uh, Jose, did he just ask what is Portos ?
JJ: Uh, he did NOT just ask what Porto’s is…

After trying some of the munchie’s that DREI provided from Portos, KID !!!, it’s safe to say this won’t be the last time Kid Marlz will be munching from that ever so popular Cuban bakery…

PORTOS_KID Tell us what you really think Kid …

OK, time to head south, from the ” West-Side”, via the 405 to the 5…

DABOYS Hey look . Jose, aka JJ, has joined us today and will be the one putting up with Kid N Drei as he provides the ride behind the wheel. ( Sidenote folks, JJ has been putting up with Kid Marlz a lot longer than Drei…) Glad you could finally join us JJ !!! Off to Diego….

MARLZ_SAMMY_DODGERDOG Having fun back there kid ? Hey, what’s Sourdough Sam smoking back there ? Yes folks, that’s Sourdough Sam, the 49ERS mascot with our Dodger Dog keeping Kid Marly Marlz entertained. Now you all may be asking why is Sammy heading south with us. Well, believe it or not, Sammy does have a favorite Dodger that he does cheer for when his buddy Lou Seal is not looking. Who you may ask. Why none other than Matt Kemp, who also happens to be a huge 49ERS fan…

Matt Kemp, 49ers Hey, it’s that time of year Matt. Drei here thinks we’ll be singing WHO’S GOT IT BETTER THAN US not only in February but also late October…

Road Games…

As we’re cruising down I-5 after breezing down the 405 through The OC ( Yes folks, it ACTUALLY is possible to breeze down 405 believe it or not…) , I bring up an old game that I used to play as a kid many many years ago. A game called, Out of State. It’s one of those classic road trip games you play with your buddies . Simple game really. All you do is call out an out-of state license plate that you see on the road and keep tabs among yourselves. Of course it’s a little harder to play these day’s with so many different license plate designs. ( Yeah, I’m that old folks. Drei here still remembers those blue license plates…) It was pretty close for the most part. Who won ?

JJ- 9
Drei- 7
Marlz- 2 ( The second was only because JJ and Drei felt sorry for Marlz we let him have North Carolina…  Then again, Kid Marlz was probably having too much fun with his mascot buddies to be paying attention to out of state license plates…)

Almost There…

ARENA1

ARENA2 The San Diego Sports Arena. One time home to the Clippers before moving to L.A. in 1984. Gotta love that old-school feel .

Trolley1 Ready to board that trolley to PETCO. Uh, Marlz, what are you doing to The Mariner Moose ? Uh, Marlz, you’re not being very nice to the Friars spring training buddy… ( No harm was done to The Moose folks..)

Trolley2 Drei and The Boys using the trolley to get to PETCO. The SDMTS trolley really is a great way to go if you should ever venture south for a game…

Finally Arrived. Today’s Ballpark, PETCO Park

SDPECTO1 Our view early in the game from the upper right field corner

SDPETCO2 U.S. Marine Corps. A longstanding tradition for the local Marines to take in a Padres game on Military Sunday. Oh yeah, should you arrive early, you may want to check out this exhibit beneath the right field stands. San Diego has always been regarded as a town with heavy military ties…

SDPETCO3

SDPETCO4 Honoring those that serve

SDPETCO7 Our view later on in the game from the upper reaches behind home plate.  Can’t beat that view, can we ?  Hey, how about our first audio/video byte ?  Here’s Matt Kemp, with a chance to give the Blue the lead, Top 5, With Drei and The Boys…

<p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/105066058″>Bison Up, Top 5, PETCO Park, 8/31</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/user29602044″>Andre Ojeda</a> on <a href=”https://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a&gt;.</p>

OK, I think it’s time to grab a Bite . Today’s Bite will be inside the Park . Today’s Bite, Hodad’s

SDPETCO6_HODADS Here’s The Hodad’s Lowdown . You might even get the latest surf report, dude…..

As JJ and I make our way toward Hodad’s and Kid Marlz was enjoying himself  with some of his mascot buddies, we all decided upon the single bacon cheeseburger with all the fixens with fries ( For JJ ) and onion rings ( Drei ). Of course we were not going to leave Marlz to Wipe Out, dude, so of course we got him a single bacon cheeseburger as well… ( Whoa. Hodad’s got Drei talkin’ that surf talk.  How are the waves at The Strand, Dude ?  )

SDPETCO8 Must be nice to have your food brought to you kid ! Let’s see, earlier it was Porto’s, now Hodad’s. Must be nice living the life of a kid…KID !!! Care to Hang 10, dude ?

Hey Kid, as Drei here brings the next video byte, perhaps you’d like to give a review of Hodads ? Speaking of the next byte, Kid Marlz here isn’t the only one that act’s the part of the kid as Drei shows he can play as well. Heck, in this clip, as Matt Kemp is up in the top 8, Drei decide’s to bring in our guest from The Bay, Sourdough Sam !!!

20140831 151515 from Good_Drei on Vimeo.

Yeah, JJ and Drei also had rave rewiews for Hodad’s . Those were some big and tasty burgers. That was just the single patty bacon cheese piled high with all the fixings. I can only imagine what the double bacon cheese would be like for us big eaters. I also liked the fact they don’t skimp on the bacon bits, really enhancing the taste of our burgers. But on Drei’s scale of 5, Drei had to take one star away for this…

BEATLA Not on this day…

MINIONS Hey, Dave, our Pet Minion is back ! Dave seems to be having a great time down south on this last Sunday Fun-Dre of the summer, 2014…

OK. Back to the on-field action.  It’s still the top of the 8th, and now Andre Ethier is at the plate pinch hitting for today’s starter Hyun-Jin Ryu.  Drei hasn’t had much of a chance to call Dre’s action lately with him not getting much playing time.  OK, Let’s check out this next clip.  You’ll also see later in the clip Kid Marly Marlz getting the Foam Party started early …

<p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/105587523″>Top 8 at PETCO, and Dre at the Plate, Drei Calling the Action</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/user31977468″>Drei</a&gt; on <a href=”https://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a&gt;.</p>

With the game now comfortably in the hands of The Blue, Kid Marlz and his mascot buddies figure now is a good time for some good old fashion playtime. But before he does….

image
Kid Marlz got the bubbles going !!!

image
Oh look, Dave our Pet Minion this time trying to steal the spotlight from Kid Marlz, along with his Dodger Dog.  Our Pet Minion Dave sure had a great time on the road with Kid Marlz.  After all, he deserves a day of fun away from his home at a certain theme park in Universal City…

You know kid, there is A Park At The Park . We can all go there after the game…
image
Uh oh. Sammy and The Moose are about to go at it. The Moose didn’t care for Sammy’s comments about having 5 more Super Bowl titles than his favorite team. The Moose didn’t exactly care for Sammy calling his city Seadderall…

image
It looks like Sammy has taken down The Moose…

image
Yo Moose ! What’s up with you and Sammy ? Why do I have to seperate you two ? Can’t you two get along ?
image
You behave yo-self Moose…

Yo Marlz, as always, you seem to be having fun with your mascot buddies . You know you can take them with you to The Park at the Park after the game.  But before we head to the Park at the Park, here’s one last audio/video byte from Drei.  Top 9, Bison up one last time, and Sammy back to see his favorite Bison at the plate.  Do Sammy and The Mariner Moose resolve their differences ?  Also, a Cowboys fan also chimes in on with the NFL season opener getting close ( As you may have seen this past Sunday, talking bad about the 49ers, Matt Kemp’s favorite team, around Sammy, is never a good thing…)

Postgame, Park At The Park With Kid Marly Marlz and Friends.

wpid-20140831_163620.jpgOn this Labor Day weekend, we take time to honor those who serve. No matter what our political stance is especially on war, we still cannot deny the time and sacrifice they put in to protecting us. If only the government did more for not only those are currently serving but those who have served as well….

wpid-20140831_163932.jpgPaying our respects to Mr. Padre , Tony Gwynn. He was a thorn to our side for many years, yet he played the game the right way. RIP Tony Gwynn…

wpid-20140831_163557.jpgKid N Drei turning PETCO, Blue. Our signature L.A. sign is backwards. That’s not the only thing that you will see backwards … OK, time to take the kid to The Park while the sun is still out…

wpid-20140831_164325.jpgWhy Kid, you got dem braids working. You even got your shirt on backward. Uh oh. Is it Kid Marlz or The Daddy Mack from Kris Kross ?

wpid-20140831_164346.jpg

wpid-20140831_164255.jpgYO, DADDY MACK ….

wpid-20140831_164815.jpgFinally . We’ve arrived at the Park at the Park. Kid Marlz is really excited to be here with his mascot buddies. Even The Swinging Friar, in spite of our Boys in Blue taking down his Friars earlier 7-1, joined Kid Marlz’ Foam Party with his other mascot buddies…

wpid-20140831_164818.jpgAnd in the back, as the kid blows away, Drei enjoys a good book…

wpid-20140831_164829.jpgUh, Kid. Don’t you think the other kids here at the park would like to join you and your mascot buddies in your Foam Party  ?

wpid-20140831_164833.jpg Uh, Kid…

wpid-20140831_164837.jpgKID !!!

wpid-20140831_165014.jpgFinally the kid moves his Foam Party . And he still got the backward look on. With the braids to go with it, Drei is starting to think it was the Daddy Mack he took to the park .  In the meantime, the mascot’s decided there’s a big playground for them to play around.  I wonder if Sourdough Sam and The Mariner Moose have made up yet ….

wpid-picsart_1410039219734.jpgOh I never felt so good tossing someone from a game… Looks like Kid Marlz had himself a good time as well. The day at the park is almost over. I’d take you to Stone Brewery behind you bu they wont let me bring any kids inside….

So a long Fun Day , Sun-Dre comes to a close.  Let’s see kid, a ballgame at PETCO, an afternoon at Park at the Park with Dave The Minion, your mascot buddies,  small ball at the lil’ Friars yard… Yeah.  Drei can see why you’re so exhausted kid.  But hey, it sure was quite a fun-filled Sun-Day Fun-Dre at the parks, wasn’t it kid ?

Yup.  Kid N Drei got all of SoCal covered this summer.  In case you missed our  previous adventures of BBB, here they are, from here in L.A. , to The O.C., and of course here in the 619  ( It really is hard to believe that one is in his early 30s and the other one is in his early 40s.  But hey, I guess that’s how it goes when you’re at ballpark, a playground, and around those who believe their still kids at heart… )  Also, from Kid Marly Marlz…  MARLZ_MEME1  MARLZ_MEME2  Don’t ever tell me I never “like” your stuff in instagram kid!  All kidding aside, I just want you to know that a true like should always go beyond 2 taps on a screen , and Drei see’s a lot more in and ahead of you Kid.  Allright kid, before we sign off, why don’t you tell us how it went down from the 213 to the 619 and back to the 213 as we cruise up 405 north with JJ behind the wheel.  Oh yeah, speaking of JJ, I want to thank you Jose for not only driving us around today but for putting up for Kid N Drei as well, though you’ve put up with the kid a lot longer that Drei has.  Drei is also glad you could FINALLY make it to a game with us.  OK Kid !  Tell us how it went down… ( Warning . Some minor explicit words here.  After all, this is a Big Kid we’re dealing with here… )

We’re Baaaaaaaaack !!!

Kid N Dre bringing you our 2nd edition of Ballparks, Bytes, and Bites

Featuring once again, Kid Marly Marlz

MARLZ_MARLINS

And Dodger Dre with the story-telling. Or as Kid Marly Marlz likes to say when Dre has his beats on …

DRE_BEATS Dre Beats !!!

There’s something about being around a ballpark that brings out the kid in all of us…

Marlz_ElysianHills Every kid dreams of making it to the bigs someday, such as this kid looking from a distance high up on the Elysian Hills ( even this 30 something kid can dream, right ? )

Once inside the stadium walls, there certainly has to be other fun things and sweet treats that bring out the kid in all of us. After all, what kid can’t resist the sweet taste of cotton candy at the ballpark, right ?

wpid-picsart_1403758081202.jpg We’re just never too old for cotton candy are we Marlz ?

Of course there are also other sweet treats inside the yard that kids big and small can sink their teeth into…

MARLZ_BIGAPPLE Whoa Marlz ! That’s quite a BIG APPLE there for a BIG KID !!!

What kid doesn’t like to play with toys ? Dodger Stadium has toys of all sizes for kids of all ages…

MARLZ_KOUFAX Here’s a flashback here. Kid Marlz and his Koufax bobblehead in 2012. Notice no facial hair for the kid ?

MARLZ_BIGBOBBLE Now that, is a big kid’s bobblehead !!!

Speaking of bobbleheads…

MARLZ_WILSONBBL1 It looks like Kid Marly Marlz is having fun with his new lil’ bro, Brian, aka, THE BEARD…

MARLZ_WILSONBBL2 See the resemblance between the two ?

On this Thursday evening, June 26th, 626 day to those in and from the San Gabriel Valley ( 626 being the main area code of SGV ) , the Boys in Blue would do battle with the St. Louis Cardinals in a rematch of last year’s NLCS.

DODGERSCARDS_SCORECARDS The Dodgers and Cardinals both have long and storied histories, having met in the post-season 3 times in the last 10 years, something the Kid and I look back on among other throwback topics in this upcoming video byte as Andre Ethier is at the plate.  It’s a custom for Dre here to “try” and call the action when Dre is at the plate…

Drei+n+Kid+Marlz%2C+626+Night+at+The+Ravine%2C+Part+1 from Good_Drei on Vimeo.

The Dodgers and Cardinals would be deadlocked in a scoreless game through 7.  As Dre here again try’s to do play by play for Dre, Marlz decides to use the moment to do some self-promoting of his instagram tag @mdario83

<p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/103876835″>Marlz Self Promoting @MDario83</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/user29602044″>Andre Ojeda</a> on <a href=”https://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a&gt;.</p>

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 8th, when Justin Turner would come off the bench and deliver…

Before Kenley Jansen would come in and shut the door down on the Dodgers hard earned 1-0 win over the Red Birds, Kid Marlz decides to strut his stuff to some California Love…

<p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/103877650″>Jansen Entrance Featuring @MDario83 (Short Version.mp4</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/user29602044″>Andre Ojeda</a> on <a href=”https://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a&gt;.</p>  Hey Kid !  As you we’re doing your strut to some California Love, I noticed the fans behind you we’re leaving you… ( I had to get that out kid !!! LOL )

So on this Thursday evening in a hard fought match-up between the Dodgers and Cardinals, the Dodgers would prevail 1-0.  Could these two teams meet again in this years post-season ?  It’s getting close to that time of year folks…

From The Ravine to the West 626 For Some Post-Game Bites

Tonight, our post-game dining ventures take us to Alhambra located on the west end of the San Gabriel Valley on 626 day on 6/26.  Along Valley Blvd., one can find many late night Asian dining options.  On this night however, Kid Marlz and I decide to go to that one non-Asian spot on the corner of Valley and Garfield where patrons have gone for their pastrami fix for many years, The Hat.

THEHAT Having grown up not to far from here in San Gabriel, I have made many ventures to The Hat for my pastrami fix for many a years .  Sliced paper thin and piled high, marinated in it’s own juices, The Hat still continues to be my occasional late night stop especially after an evening game.

WETFRIES Some wet fries to go with the pastrami.  Looks like the Mini Beard and the Mini Puig have their eyes set on this meal.

MARLZ_HAT1 Ready to dig in Kid ?

MARLZ_HAT2 In the meantime, while Kid Marlz is reading to chow down, Mini Puig and MIni Beard are wondering how are we going to finish all this food ?

MARLZ_HAT3 Mini Puig doesn’t seem to thrilled that Kid Marlz would chow down like that in front of them…

MARLZ_HAT4 You hungry kid ?  His lil’ bro, the Mini Beard doesn’t seem very amused , especially since the Kid isn’t sharing.  The Mini Beard looks like he’s ready to deliver some chin music to The Kid if he don’t share some of his pastrami…

MARLZ_HAT5 And the Mini Bearded one and The Kid are now at peace.

On a side note, when Kid Marlz put some ketchup on his pastrami sandwich, that had to be the first time in all the years I’ve dined at The Hat that I’ve seen someone put some sort of “foreign” condiment on the sandwich.

Dre: ” You’re really gonna put ketchup on that ? “

Kid: ” Yeah buddy !!! ”

Dre: ” Who put’s ketchup on their pastrami ? “

Kid: ” This guy !!! “

So, that sums up this edition of Ballparks, Bytes and Bites.  L.A. and it’s vast area is full of pre and post game dining options that many a Dodger fan has favorited.  I’m sure you have one of your own in your town as well.  So, what’s your favorite pre and post game dining spot ?

KIDNDRE_HAT Kid N Dre chowing down.  FYI, we we’re not able to finish the wet fries with our pastrami.  We aren’;t the first not to accomplish this feat.  We certainly won’t be the last.  That was a lot of food.   Even the Mini Puig and Mini Beard couldn’t help us.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this edition of Kid N Dre’s Ballparks, Bytes and Bites.  Next up, San Diego and PETCO Park.  What will Kid N Dre have in store for you next ?  Stay tuned…

minibeard You really are enjoying quality time with your new Lil Bro aren’t you kid ?  As always… Once a Kid, Always a Kid, Forever a Kid, Kid at Heart….

DRE_BEATS_BISON Hey Kid !  You ain’t the only Big Boy who still plays with toys !  Dre got his Mini Bison to help with his Beats !!!  ‘Til the Next Episode…

Ballparks, Bytes and Bites, Cruising The OC, 8/7/2014

With Kid Marly Marlz, and Dre , aka Kid and Dre , ( How original huh ? )

MARLZ_DREI_AngelStadium

Featuring Kid Marly Marlz

Malzzzzzz

In another addition to the blog, I’ve added this new feature that i’ve decided to call Ballparks, Bytes and Bites. Ballparks, because much of Kid and Dre’s hijinx take place in a ballpark, Bytes, because, again, Kid and Dre’s video bytes, among other attempts at either broadcast or entertainment, come from the old ballpark, and Bites, to feature and review where Kid Marlz and I go for a pre or post-game bite. Dre does the reviews, and Kid Marlz, who you will see more of than Dre, well, he acts the part as, well, The Kid. ( Or is he really acting ? Because after all, to be Kid Marlz, he gotta have some, ok, a lot of, well, Kid at Heart…) You could say it’s a spin from Food Networks Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. Only the personalities involved here are much friendlier and non-pretentious and hopefully a lot funnier ( We do try folks…)

Today, we find ourselves cruising through the OC on the way to see our Boys in Blue take on the Angels in Anaheim on this Thursday evening. Before we find ourselves in Anaheim, The Kid decides he wants to try out Sonic since he’s seen the commercials but has never been ( Neither had Dre for that matter, because the only Sonic in L.A. County to Dre’s knowledge is over in Azusa ). So we venture to the one in Fullerton by the 57 Freeway. Oh yeah, just a thought for you ballpark travelers. If you plan to catch an Angels game in Anaheim during the week and you’re staying in L.A., you may want to plan on spending the day somewhere in Orange County. The traffic, no matter what route you decide to use, can really test your patience . ( Thank You Kid Marlz for putting up with it ! )

Bites… Sonic

Sonic

As we finally arrive at Sonic, we see that this is your classic car-hop type drive-in, where you place your order through a speaker and servers in roller skates deliver your food. We opted for the outdoor patio. The food really wasn’t the greatest, I had the double bacon cheeseburger, which I thought was really lacking in flavor, but the shakes that we had we’re a big hit. I tried out the chocolate jalapeno shake, which wasn’t bad at all, and not too spicy either. Kid Marlz, (in a moment you’ll see why we call him The Kid) well, he enjoyed his strawberry cheesecake shake. While we we’re at Sonic, a couple of the Angels rival mascots found their way toward the kid…

Marlz_Mascots1 Well Marlz, it looks like you’ve made some new buddies there with Stomper, the Oakland A’s mascot, and The Mariner Moose . Of course our unofficial mascot, The Dodger Dog had to join them…

MarlzMoose1

MarlzMoose4 Whoa Marlz, easy on The Moose’s Antlers…

MarlzMoose3 Aw. Marlz is sharing his shake with The Moose…

Marlz_Mascots2 You really are having the time of your life with your new furry friends aren’t you kid ?

Marlz_DodgerDog2 Of course Kid Marlz loves his Dodger Dog…

As for the dining experience at Sonic, the shakes we’re good. The rest, well… I’ll just say go for the shakes. ( You’ll all be glad to know no animals we’re harmed and the Moose’s antlers are still in one piece…)

Ballpark…Angel Stadium, 8/7/2014 . Dodgers vs. Angels

BigA Gotta give it the proper look …

Bud_Clydes Hey look, it’s the Budweiser Clydesdales !!!

Marlz_Clydes OK Marlz, you really gonna take all that beer ? ( In the meantime, Dre is having a friendly wager with the King of Clydesdales that come October it will be the Dodgers not the Cardinals repping the NL in this years World Series…

KidDreEntrance Turning The OC Blue !!!

Bytes… From the upper reaches of Angel Stadium, Matt Kemp at The Plate.

In the beginning of this byte, listen for an Angel fan behind me that doesn’t care for Matt’s or perhaps, my presence… How does Matt do in this at bat ? Also, The Kid discusses the 3 B’s in this at bat. Bison, Brew, and Bubbles !!! ( Bubbles ? )

Ballparks, Bytes and Bites from Andre Ojeda on Vimeo.

Speaking of bubbles, perhaps you may have heard the big fuss last week over the now infamous bubble machine . It appears that as of now, the bubble machine will not be going away anytime soon, as seen here after A.J. Ellis’ home run in Milwaukee during Sunday’s 5-1 win over the Brewers…

Of course, we always have our own bubble to blow as well, right kid ?

kid_bubbles Once a Kid…Always a Kid…Forever a Kid…Kid at Heart

And on this Thursday August evening, the Dodgers, behind a 2 hit 7 inning performance by Hyun-Jin Ryu, would put out the Halo 7-0, taking 3 of 4 in the freeway series .

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this first edition of Ballparks, Bytes and Bites. Next up, we go from The Ravine to the
West 626…

TurningITBlue Taking out the red and turning The OC Blue. ‘Til the next episode…
