At the intersection of Sunset and Vin Scully. All is calm on this Monday afternoon, October 30th, 2017….
Here I am from up in the Top Deck. The infield behind me has the tarp on top but rain is not expected for Game 6. Thanks to last night’s gut-wrenching 13-12 loss to the Astros in Game 5, the Dodgers find themselves down 3 games to 2 and in a must win situation from here on out…
Tonight will mark the latest date an MLB game has been played at Dodger Stadium. Tonight will also mark the latest date the Dodgers have played a baseball game, surpassing their previous date of October 29, 1981 when they defeated the New York Yankees in Game 6 of the 1981 World Series in New York to capture their 4th World Series title in Los Angeles, 5th overall.
Monday was a workout day for both teams, so I decided to drop on by for one last glimpse of The Ravine before our Boys In Blue get back at it…
Outside The Ravine, I had to make one last stop over at The Rock. Kid N Drei’s Rock…On the corner of Vin Scully and Stadium…
Here’s hoping that our luck changes for the rest of the series…
The last time the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets won the World Series, for the Royals, it was 1985. The Mets would win it all in 1986.
Both teams would stave off elimination to win their series in 7 games.
Both teams would win Game 6 in memorable walk-off fashion…
1985, Game 6… St. Louis vs Kansas City, 9th Inning…
1985, Game 6… Boston vs. NY Mets, 10th Inning…
This year’s World Series match-up between the Mets and Royals will guarantee that one of these teams will end a World Series Championship drought. This series will be a feature between the Royals contact hitters vs. the Mets power pitchers. The Mets have caught fire coming off a 4 game sweep of the Cubs. This should be an exciting fall classic.

Extra Innings… A Tale From Kid Marley Marlz…
Hey Kid. You and your Cubbie bear buddy look like you have a lot on your minds. Yeah, being knocked out by the Mets was a bummer for both of us wasn’t it ? There’s always next year, right Kid ?

Bats Coming Alive
Up until Game 5 it was pitching, as well as missed opportunities that played into this being a low scoring series. The bats finally came alive in Game 4 as the Cards slugged 2 home runs and the Blue would hit into 3 double plays. Wednesday it was the Dodgers, on the brink of elimination, who brought the bats to the yard, cranking 4 home runs, a post season single game club record, 2 by Gonzalez, and 1 each by Crawford and A.J. Ellis, as the Dodgers staved off elimination en route to a 6-4 win, sending this NLCS back to St Louis for Game 6…. Yesterday, it was the Cardinals turn to miss some opportunities, blowing an early bases loaded no out opportunity to put a dagger into the hearts of Dodgers fans…. After tying the game at 2 in the top of the 3rd, Yadier Molina would again ground into an inning ending double play, and Zack Greinke would not allow another hit until his departure after the 7th…. I said before and throughout the series that one of the keys would be which team gets that clutch hit. St Louis had done just enough to position themselves to punch their ticket to the World Series, and Zack Greinke, while not on his best, grinded it out . So now, with Kershaw taking the hill in Game 6 in St. Louis against Cards rookie Michael Wacha, will it be the Dodgers turn, as they did, in Game 5, to do ” just enough ” to bring this to a decisive 7th game ?
The Power of L.A. Media ?
Four years ago, after Game 2 of the NLDS, the Matt Holliday game, I came across longtime KCBS sports reporter Jim Hill after the Dodgers stunningly beat the Cards to take a 2 games to none lead in that series…. The Dodgers would wrap it up in St. Louis, sweeping the Cards 3 straight. Wednesday before the game, I come across Fred Roggin, with the same except this time stained rally towel from Game 2 of the 2009 NLDS that Adam Wainwright gives us so much credit for…. Deja vu going into St Louis ? We shall see…
Mickey says to bring it home !!!! GO DODGERS !!!!
