10 Years a Good Dre…Sunday Night Flashback…Scott Van Slyke, The Son of the Blank Blank

The Dodgers and Cardinals have staged some epic battles over the years. Heck, I still dread the day when Tommy Lasorda once called Andy Van Slyke, son of, you guessed it, Scott Van Slyke, a BLANK BLANK ( As told by our favorite storyteller who we simply know as…Vin)

31 years later, even the sound of Vinny still won’t stop me from asking ” WHY DID YOU PITCH TO JACK CLARK ? “

58437_1543704079875_7619633_n Scott Van Slyke, Right Field, AAA Albuquerque Isotopes, 8/28/2010

Fast forward now to a Sunday night in May, 2012… 27 years later the SON OF THE BLANK BLANK Van Slyke finds himself wearing the Dodger Blue. Having been called up from Albuquerque, the rookie finds himself in a pinch hitting role in the home 7th, with The Blue trailing the Red Birds 5-3. With 2 on and 2 out, at the plate with a 3-0 count, Drei here tells his buddy Josh ” The rookie ain’t swinging on a 3-0 pitch…”. You really don’t think the rookie is swinging away at a 3-0 pitch, do ya ?

Not only was the 3 run blast Van Slyke’s first MLB 4 bagger, the 3 run 4 bagger, from the son of that…BLANK BLANK… would give the Blue a 6-5 lead over the Cardinals, the team the senior Van Slyke would start his career with. The Blue would hold on for the win and an eventual 3 game sweep of the Red Birds. What a moment that must have been for the SON OF THAT BLANK BLANK…

Drei’s Thoughts…5/15/2016

With the offense scoring 18 runs in their last 3 games the offense looks like it’s starting to get back on track. The Dodgers, 4-2 in the current homestand and winners of their last 3, have a chance to do what they did 4 years ago the night The ‘Stache hit his first big league 4 bagger, sweep the Cardinals. Alex Wood, who has performed well at home this year, will take the mound as he tries to follow up on Scott Kazmir’s gem from last night. The Giants have also started to heat up, winning 4 in a row as they will try to pull off a 4 game sweep in the desert. Earlier this season it was the Snakes who pulled off the 4 game sweep up north. With the Dodgers and Giants starting to warm up and the Rockies lying only a game and a half behind, the NL West could start to be finally warming up…

Extra Innings… A SUN-DAY, FUN-DREI Tale From Kid Marley Marlz…

Marlz_Mascots1 With 4 games coming up against our neighbors down I-5, the rival mascot’s of the Halos have joined forces with our Dodger Dog and The Kid as we all hope The Blue has a big series as they attempt to take down that Red Rally Monkey… Oh yeah, that’s not the only thing Stomper and The Moose are bonding together for. The Moose is still upset over his city not having an NBA team since they bolted for OKC 8 years ago. The Dodger Dog, caught in the middle, has mixed feeling. After all, his favorite team’s AAA Team does call OKC home. Not only that, the Dodger Dog has also been a big Russel Westbrook fan since his days as a Son of Westwood…

13227065_1127510437313048_1773213978151655468_n Does Curry continue his quest for a repeat ? Will Russel Westbrook have something to say about that ?

Drei’s Food For Thought For 2016

dodgers0831_2 The Dodger Dog. The number one food item among generations of Dodgers fans. One of the things we Dodger fans look forward to when visiting The Ravine. This is the Super Dog, my preference. A lot more beef than the usual foot long.

Ballpark dining has come a long way from the usual hot dog, peanuts and cracker jacks, with Dodger Stadium being no different. Speaking of cracker jacks…

img_20160326_162158.jpg How ’bout this latest creation ? A Cracker Jack & Mac Dog, to be served at PNC Park this season. This latest creation from Pittsburgh,a town known for throwing just about anything in their sandwiches, tops this dog off with mac and cheese, jalapenos, Cracker Jacks drizzled with caramel sauce on pita bread. I wonder if that toy prize actually comes with the dog ?

Of course PNC Park is hardly alone when it comes to ballpark dining creativity, or yet, throwing some form of popcorn into their dog…

img_20160326_164137.jpg @FoxSportsSouth  Meet TED, The Everything Dog, being served at Turner Field. On top of that all beef dog is pretty much everything in both your fridge and cupboard, and some, including popcorn, chili and Coca-Cola infused BBQ sauce, among other accoutrements… That’s not the only thing Turner Field is introducing in it’s final season…

Twitter @darrenrovell  Dubbed the Burgerizza, this gut buster is “grilled 20-oz. all-beef patty, covered with five slices of cheddar cheese, topped with crispy bacon, and served between two 8-inch pepperoni pizzas.” Obviously not approved by the folks at PETA… These are just two of the creations Turner Field will be serving up Braves fans in it’s grand finale. Of course, the league ballpark dining creations don’t end there, many of these making Dodger Stadium’s new food items for 2016 seem rather tame.

King's Hawaiian loaded hot dog Matthew Moreno-DodgerBlue.com

The King’s Hawaiian Dog, a Super Dog inside of course a King’s Hawaiian bun, topped off with a pineapple salsa. The Dodgers during the last few years have served up themed dog’s based on a particular heritage night being celebrated or who the visiting team is. The themed dog’s have been mostly a hit, but like our national pastime, some misses as well. So, you may be asking, what themed dog’s has Drei had ?

Heritage Dogs

DODGERS_FIL DOG 2 DODGERS_FIL DOG

The Filipino Dog, served during last year’s Filipino Heritage Night. As a Filipino-American this was really more of a Hawaiian theme, with my fellow Pinoy Dodger fans echoing the same sentiment… Hit or Miss ? Miss

wpid-20140817_120823.jpg wpid-20140817_121625.jpg The Cuban Dog, served during Cuban Heritage Night/Day or when the Miami Marlins are in town. For those familiar the with the medianoche, this super dog is complimented with roast pork, ham, mustard, Swiss cheese and pickles. While I won’t be too picky to ask for this delight to be placed in a press, perhaps this dog would really go well on Cuban bread ? Hey, if the King’s Hawaiian can come in it’s own bread, why not the Cuban Dog ? Hit or Miss ? Hit

Visiting Team Theme Dog’s…

wpid-IMG_20130527_015246.jpg The St. Louis Dog, topped off with pulled pork, sweet bbq sauce and fried onion strips. Neither hit or miss, on this occasion I seemed to get more sauce than I did pork.

Pike Dog The Pike Dog. Named after Seattle’s famous Pike Street, where on 1st and Pike some coffee shop sits, this was actually a Brooklyn Dog cream cheese and caramelized onions. Concept wasn’t quite there. Maybe some salmon inside the cream cheese could have bumped this dog up ? Hmm ? Lox and Dogs ? Hey, people in the Emerald City love their salmon…Hit or Miss ? Miss

PHILLY DOG The Philly Dog. My favorite of the visiting team themed dogs. There is no shortage of meat in this offering with this offering topped off with thinly sliced ribeye, whiz and onions. This even had the Phanatic’s approval, perhaps explaining why of the mascots featured here he has the biggest waist-line. A hit indeed and perhaps the only reason as of recent to  see the Phillies…

So those are some of the “themed” dogs that Drei has had a chance to devour, along with the Coney Dog (Tigers), Bratwurst ( Brewers. How original huh ? ) or the Chicago Dog (Cubs/White Sox), with the Philly Dog ranking as Drei’s top dog. Yeah, these Dog’s haven’t done much to help shrink Drei’s waist-line either…

So, what other “visiting team themed dogs” does Drei here think Dodger Food Services can come up with? Hmm, how ’bout these suggestions…

Georgia Dog (Braves) Top it off with some sauteed vidalia onions and cole slaw

Cincy Dog (Reds) Some Cincy chili with a hint of cinammon

And if the Blue Jays ever make it back here

Poutinne Dog. The thought of a super dog topped with fries, gravy and cheese curds has me drooling

It probably won’t be long before they start selling tums or Rolaids in the stands. Frankly, I really don’t think the Dodgers are to worried about trying to outdo the league in regards to the ballpark culinary cuisine.  Because at the end of the day, the Dodger Dog is still the top dog among the blue blooded Dodger fans.

marls_2 GAMEOVER2 Seems like all this talk of food has got GlutenFreeSounds, Kid Marley Marlz,  into a food coma… Speaking of Gluten Free, something I highly doubt these food creations are, Kid Marley Marlz and his…GlutenFreeSounds

Drei’s 2016 A.L. Forecast

Looking Back…

What Drei said last year…

” If there was ever a case for parity ( a word we’ll be hearing throughout the season ) in one division, the AL East makes a case…. Parity. Did I say we’d be using that word A LOT this season ?…Somebody in the Junior Circuit has to win 90 games, right ? The AL’s two best teams could very well be here in the west, setting up a potential ALDS showdown between these two. The Mariners and Angels are among the vast favorites to represent the AL in The Fall Classic.”

If there was one thing I nearly got right last year, I felt the AL would only have one team winning 90 plus games. Turns out two teams ended up winning over 90 games. Appropriately enough, both those teams ended up in the ALCS, one would eventually win the World Series.  Heading into 2016, I still do feel there will be a lot of parity in the Junior Circuit…

A.L East

From top to bottom, anyone is capable of winning this division. Dating back to 2011, each team has had their share of the division crown. Much of the offensive firepower the Blue Jays produced en route to their first post-season appearance in 22 years will be returning this season, including 2nd half pick up Troy Tulowitzki. Having a full season of Tulo should produce more lofty numbers. The loss of David Price from the rotation to the Red Sox may slow them down.

Boston has a good mix of veterans along with some up and comers in Mookie Betts and Xander Bogarts and the addition of David Price to their rotation should help them contend in the east.

The Yankees rotation has too many question marks. Will the off-season acquisition of Aroldis Chapman make much of a difference. Tampa may have the best rotation in the league and should they get any offensive help, could also challenge for the division. On the other side of the ledger, the Orioles, 2 years removed from a division crown, will not be lacking for offense if they can come close to their 217 dingers from last season. Pitching still remains a question.

A.L. Central

After back to back playoff appearances and a World Series title, the Royals still can’t convince the so-called experts that they are the class of the division. This is another division where there seems to be no clear cut favorite as even Minnesota with it’s young roster remained in contention last season until the final weekend.

Defense, speed and relief pitching carried KC all the way to their first title in 30 years. Having Alex Gordon back should help. The rotation needs for Yordano Ventura to step as and assume the roll of the ace. A third consecutive post-season appearance is certainly attainable for KC.

Cleveland has a pretty formidable rotation of Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar. Will off-season additions Mike Napoli, Rajai Davis, Juan Uribe and Marlon Byrd, players not exactly in their prime make a difference ? Having said that, I still feel Cleveland is ready to challenge for the division.

The White Sox and Tigers, disappointments from last season, look to bounce back. Detroit may be the division’s most improved team  but their biggest question will be their bullpen, which ranked among the worst last season. The Twins are the division’s most intriguing team, with a roster full of youth that started fast out the gate at 30-19. Expectation’s may be unfairly high for them, but last season’s experience in a pennant race should only help this group.

A.L. West

After a last place finish in 2014, the Texas Rangers bounced back nicely to return to the post season for the 4th time in 6 seasons. With Cole Hamels coming back and a healthy Yu Darvish along with along with a lineup that boasts big offensive numbers, the Rangers may be the most balanced team in the division. Their bullpen still has some holes to fill entering the season.

The Astros, last season’s biggest surprise, is ready to make more noise this season. A full season with Carlos Gomez certainly can’t hurt the lineup. The Mariners, picked by many last season to represent the Junior Circuit in The Fall Classic after an 87 win campaign in 2014, regressed last season, something that could be of concern in Houston with expectations being higher. The M’s strength is still pitching, led by Felix Hernandez. I expect the Mariners to bounce back and be the sleeper in this division.

The Angels, even with the presence of Mike Trout, suffered a decline in offensive numbers last season. Their rotation is still solid and should keep them in contention. The A’s are the one team no one expects to do much. Offensive additions Yonder Alonso and Jed Lowrie should help the offense. Their rotation still has too many holes for Oakland to seriously pose a challenge for the division.

Wild Card

Astros over Boston

ALDS

Toronto over Houston

Seattle over Cleveland

ALCS

Toronto over Seattle. If this holds true to form…IF…this could be a matchup of teams with opposite strengths. Toronto came within 2 games last season, Seattle was expected by many, including your’s here, to challenge last season. Seattle is my choice for the AL darkhorse, which may not be saying much considering the league wide parity.

So based on my projections, the Junior Circuit is pretty much open for anyone to take, maybe even Oakland. Am I going against the pundits ? For the most part, yes. If the JC is this competitive this year, activity around the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline could be very minimal. I would not be surprised if there was a 3 way tie for either a division title or the wild card.

Drei’s Sunday Tale… A Visit From The Phanatic

Phanatic_DodgerStadium With the Phillies in town this past week, the “infamous” Phillie Phanatic decided to pay a trip inside the hallowed halls of Chavez Ravine. The way the Phillies are playing these days, I can’t blame the Phanatic for making the trek out west…Our beloved Dodger Dog was oh-so-happy to see big green creature… Hey, perhaps the two could work together and come up with some specialty dog ?

phillydog  Hey, a Philly Cheesesteak Dog !!!

PHILLY DOG This is more like it !!! A bigger pile of that Philly Cheesesteak wit Whiz and Onions on top of that Super Dodger Dog. The Phanatic has had such a long season he needs more than one of those Shock Tops… Between the Phanatic’s Philly Dog and The Mariner Moose’s Pike Dog, a Brooklyn Dog with cream cheese and caramelized onions…

Pike Dog Drei give’s a decided edge to the Philly Dog. Yeah, both dogs had cheese and onions, but the Philly Dog just has that Big Man appeal, while the Pike Dog…meh. That could explain why the Phanatic has a bigger waistline than the Mariner Moose. Hey Moose, don’t feel so bad ? I hear there’s a nice little  coffee shop on 1st and Pike…

Monday Night… 7/6/2015

The first of 4 games with the Phillies, with The Blue Crew coming out on top 10-7, at four hours and 13 minutes long would fall 3 minutes shy of the longest nine-inning game in the majors this season.  The game would also fall 5 minutes shy of the longest nine-inning home game in Dodger history. As for the Phillies, it would be their longest nine-inning game in team history.  7 pitchers would be used by the Blue Crew in this back and forth affair, and with the game tied at 7 in the home 7th, The Blue would finally pull away thanks in part to this clutch hit by former Phillie Jimmy Rollins…

Phanatic_Mon Nite The Phanatic not ” Pheeling ” so good thanks in part to his old pal Jimmy Rollins…

Thursday Night… 7/9/2015

With Zack Greinke taking the hill on this night, this game would be anything but a slugfest. Well, at least on the part of those from wearing the red caps….

Phanatic_Papplebon The Phanatic checking out Phillies closer Jonathan Paplebon. The Phil’s bats would be silenced with Greinke throwing 8 shutout innings. That wouldn’t stop The Phanatic from taking part in our 7th inning stretch, however, the Dodger Dog will not be overshadowed…

The Dodger Dog would more than enjoy The Phanatic’s visit to The Ravine, even if good ol’ Tommy feels otherwise…

phanatic_poor phanatic Poor Phanatic. He’s been going through some really tough times as of late. Even his GM Ruben Amauro Jr. won’t let him out of his contract… ” Now I know how my feathered buddy in Pittsburgh felt. I just hope I don’t go through this for 21 straight seasons… ”

Finishing the 1st Half With a Bang…

A-GON coming through in the clutch. With that bang in the home 8th giving the Dodgers a 4-3 lead and eventual win, the Dodgers head to the break 4.5 games up on the Giants. Gonzalez is one of five Dodgers heading to Cincy for the All-Star break, along with, deservedly, Kid K.  Later this week, Drei looks back on the 1st half . Oh yeah, speaking of heading to Cincy, should you be heading toward the Queen City for the Mid-Summer Classic or for your future ballpark excursions, check our review of Great America Ballpark at Stadium Journey, your source for worldwide stadium reviews and experiences

The Week In Review and Drei’s SUN-DAY, FUN-DREI Ballpark Tale From The Ravine

Before we get started with Drei’s SUN-DAY FUN-DREI tale, let’s look back at events from earlier this week… 42_Civil Rights Logo This past Wednesday, on April 15th, The Civil Rights Game took place at Dodger Stadium on Jackie Robinson Day. Earlier in the day, it was also announced that some time this season the Dodgers will further honor Jackie later on this season by erecting a statue in his honor , the first in a series the Dodgers are planning…

Foam Party in 2015 ?

You all remember the bubble machine from last year right ? The machine that created bubbles afloat after each Dodger home run ? It was so popular that it eventually carried over into the stands, bringing out the kid in all of us, even this kid…

kid_bubbles Kid Marly Marlz and the bubbles, Angel Stadium, August 7 2014…

Well, it’s been reported that Gazillion Bubbles will be providing the bubbles for the Dodgers in 2015  as they will be making pre-game appearances on Sunday afternoons as well as appearances in the Kid Zone as well. As for the dugout presence, only time will tell…

Drei’s SUN-DAY, FUN-DREI Ballpark Tale

Our first SUN-DAY, FUN-DREI tale from the yard…

With our resident Dodger Dog and his special guest, The Mariner Moose…

Dodger Dog n Moose

Also back with us for 2015, our featured Kid at Heart…

Marlz_Dog n Moose KID MARLY MARLZ !!! The Kid always finds a way to have a good time at the yard, especially with his favorite resident Dodger Dog and his other favorite mascot from way up in the Pacific Northwest… Chavez Ravine, 4/13-15 With the Mariners in town for 3, some are saying that this could be a possible World Series preview…

MOOSE_2 Hey Moose. Can you just imagine what the atmosphere would be like here if we meet again in October ?… Yo Dog ! I’ve never seen so many people inside a stadium… With the Mariners in town for 3, the Dodger Dog even had a themed dog in the Moose’s honor, The Pike Place Dog… Pike Dog The Pike Dog, a Brooklyn Dog with caramelized grilled onions and cream cheese on a thick bun. Drei here was expecting something different that would reflect The Ivar Dog . More on that later… On the field, the Mariners wasted no time putting the heavy lumber on display, particularly Nelson Cruz, who would hit 4 homers during the 3 game series, 2 on Monday night. Also on Monday night, the M’s would total 4 homers all together…

Kid Marlz, always a happy kid, was not to thrilled with The Blue being down 4 runs to our guests from the Pacific Northwest…

Moose_3 Hey Kid ! I hope you’re not confusing The Moose for smoked denizen… In spite of an early deficit, The Boys in Blue would come back and eventually tie the game, just in time for Kid Marly Marlz and Dodger Drei’s first 7th inning stretch of the season ( With the Resident Dodger Dog and The Moose…)

Uh oh. What’s this ? It looks like Sir G-O, dressed in those team colors from that team in The O.C. has got a stranglehold on The Moose…

Moose_Sergio Poor Moose. ” Yo Dog ! HELP !!! “. Hey Moose, I think Sir To The G-O was sent to The Ravine by your nemesis, you know, that Red Monkey… Hey, Sir G-O could be here to see Howie Kendrick. The way Howie has started off for the Blue, I wouldn’t blame him…

Rally Monkey_Red You know folks, Drei actually doesn’t mind the presence of this monkey when we play his Angels. It just mean’s The Boys in Blue are winning… Monday night’s game would go into extras. With the game still tied in the home 10th… Bases loaded, 2 outs, and the rookie Alex Guerrero at the plate, Drei here with this InstaByte from the LF Pavillion…

Don’t you all love Drei’s timing ? Another walk-off win for The Blue and a 5-2 win on Wednesday, and the Dodgers would complete a 3 game sweep of the Mariners. If this is what some say is a preview of this years World Series, L.A. should be one happy place come October. Of course, what happens in April is hardly any indication of what can happen later. It’s still a long season folks. But hey, you got to like how things have started off for The Blue, especially during this past homestand, which will finish off today as the Boys in Blue look to not only win their 8th home game in 9 tries, but also pull off back to back 3 game sweeps as they hope to bring out the brooms against the Rockies and continue to build upon their fast start .

MOOSE_DOG Yo Dog, I want a rematch come October !!! Hey Moose, maybe you can take your anger out on that monkey when you come back to SoCal in early May…

Hey Moose ! You always got Kid Marly Marlz to make you feel better, right ?

Throwback Thursday…Drei’s Ballpark Adventures… Petco Park, 2004-2014… A Holiday Tale From Kid N Drei… Holiday Beats From Kid Marly Marlz

From 1969 to 2004, the San Diego Padres would call Mission Valley their home, playing their games at Quallcom Stadium…

Drei n Chris_Quallcomm April, 2001, Quallcom Stadium, with my buddy and old roommate Chris. Someday Chris, I will pay you a visit to Louisville and we’ll catch a Louisville Bats game ( Reds AAA affiliate ) . We’ll even go to the Louisville Slugger museum.

Of all the yards I’ve had a chance to pay a venture off on the road, Petco Park in San Diego is one i’ve had the chance to pay frequent visits to. Of course, most of those visits we’re when the Dodgers we’re in town. By now, i’m sure you are all very aware of a former Dodger outfielder who will be roaming the spacious outfield of PETCO come the 2015 season. We’ll go more into that later…

Since it’s opening in 2004, I’ve averaged about 1 visit a year, with 2013 being my lone miss. I have seen other opponents there as well as the World Baseball Classic Championship game in 2006. In many way’s, Petco Park not only has been one of my favorite yards to visit, it’s also been a special place for me,  whether its taking the sibs down their on their first road trip with their big bro, doing the road trip thing with various friends, or even reuniting with old friends, as Drei here Throw’s Back Thursday for the final time in 2014, we’ll look back upon my visits in , let’s say, a pictorial timeline sort of way going back to Petco’s 1st season in 2004. Many of the pics will have captions, and many won’t. I’ll let the pics do most of the storytelling. You will notice a holiday theme along the way as well, given the time of year…

The Padres did a nice job of blending this old where house into the stadium. Later that evening, the Lakers would blow a 24 point lead in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against Boston to lose in OT, and to cap it off, our train stalled on the way back and we, along with my buddies Chris and Josh, spent a good portion of our evening stuck in Santa Ana. Who knew it would take a good 8 hours to get from S.D. to L.A, right Chris ?

Opening on the Road…

For many years I, like most of you, have made it a tradition to make it out to Opening Day. This time around, with the Blue opening down south, my longtime buddy Josh and I decided why not ? Let’s take our opening “act” on the road ( or rails…)

PETCO09_13DREI_JOSH Many road games travelled with Josh, many stories to tell…

Pregame…

PETCO09_11MANNY Manny Ramirez. Manny being Manny…

PETCO09_12KEMP_LONGTOSS Matt Kemp doin’ some long toss, a sight that will be frequent in Petco next season…

PETCO09_12KEMP_VICTORYLINE Opening Day ’09, and The Blue come out on top over Jake Peavy and the Friars 4-1, and Matt Kemp among others in that victory line. I wish you the best Bison, just not against us….

Reunited and It Feels So Good…

PETCO2011_GROUP With Josh, of course, and 2 other of  my dear friends who I had not seen in 9 years, Victoria, in the Mariners hat minus The Mariner Moose ( More on that later…) and Deanna, another really close friend of mine from our high school days, 19 years back…

2012

Easter Weekend…

PETCO2012_DREI DOG This is the yard where the pets go, and well, Drei here got himself a new best friend… ( So he thinks…) . The Park at the Park beyond the outfield stands also serves as a public park during non-event hours and after day games as well…

PETCO2012_PLAYGROUND EMPTY All is so serene in the park, a park where kids of all ages love to play, and in a few moments, you will see what I mean when I say, ” Kids ” of all ages…

Stretch Time…

How ’bout a tale about Christmas, and Little Saint Nick…

2014

Final Day of August

PETCO_2012 UPPER VIEW Petco Park 2014

Some slight changes in the above before and after pics 9 years apart. One of the more noticeable changes is the addition of the Comerica Bank glass building beyond the outfield to the right. Also you might notice the outfield fences particularly in right field being brought in, as well as a lower right field wall as well. Next season, another change you will notice, aside from Matt Kemp roaming the outfield at PETCO pending possible other possible obstacles that may prevent this from happening will be a new video board among other renovations to PETCO .  Did I mention earlier that PETCO has a park where “kids” of all ages love to play…

BUBBLES1

Hey look, it’s Kid Marly Marlz ! Some of you may remember Kid n Drei’s recent trip down I-5 ?  If not, well, just click on the following upcoming link to see what went down with Kid, Drei, and JJ on their most recent journey to PETCO…

wpid-20140831_163932.jpg Paying our respects  to Mr. Padre , Tony Gwynn, with Kid Marly Marlz and JJ. The statue of the Padre HOFer is located at The Park at the Park beyond the outfield stands should you want to pay your respects…

I hope you all enjoyed my pictorial and narrative flashbacks of past trips to PETCO, dating back to it’s opening 10 years ago. While there have been a few changes since it’s opening, with more changes to come as is the norm for most venues these days, PETCO still does an outstanding job of maintaining it’s charm while blending in real nicely with the surrounding neighborhood. With the Padres expecting to be in contention in 2015, perhaps crowds may even come in larger droves…

9th Inning… Kid n Drei’s Holiday Tale From The Park…

WE’RE BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK !!!!

MARLZ_MINION DAVE N CANDY Kid Marly Marlz, being, well… Kid Marly Marlz…

DREI_VICTORY BELL 2014 And Dodger Drei, ready to ring in the holiday season…

Kid Marly Marlz and Dodger Drei, aka KID N DREI, of our “infamous” feature Ballparks, Bytes and Bites , back at it one last time for 2014 ready to bring you a Holiday Tale…

2014 has been quite a year. The Kid and Drei had quite a time from May to September. Last time we saw The Kid around here, he was hibernating somewhere up in the hills of Chavez Ravine with a mascot buddy of his from Seattle whom he has become very attached to…

wpid-picsart_1417834344473.jpg Awe. Kid Marly Marlz is all snuggled up with The Mariner Moose, keeping him all nice and warm. The two really have become quite close this season. Hey Kid ! You may want to be careful some female Mariner fan from a few pics above doesn’t see you with The Moose….

Oh yeah, you may have noticed that a huge storm front has covered the hills of Chavez Ravine and will soon be heading south toward San Diego, where Kid Marly Marlz will be found playing a little Winter Ball at the lil’ kids park. After all, the Kid has no idea what an off-season is…

Winter Ball at The Park…

On this unusually snowy day in San Diego, The Kid finds himself playing some ball over at the Lil’ Friars yard with the other kids….

PETCO_HOLMARLZ4 Kid Marly Marlz doesn’t seem to like Dodger Drei’s, or, Santa Drei’s call at 3rd. Hey Kid, be careful now… You wouldn’t want Santa Drei to leave you a whole stocking full of coal would you ?

Believe it or not, Kid Marly Marlz has ACTUALLY been a good kid all year long ( Did Drei just say that ? ), leaving fans of all ages very happy, especially the little one’s, who had such a great time playing with Kid Marly Marlz this season with his very own foam bubbles

MDARIO_BUBBLES2 Kid at Heart…

It really was a fun and memorable season. Too bad all this fun couldn’t last deep into October like we all thought would happen. Perhaps 2015 will be our year ? What other off-season moves does the Dodgers front office have in store for us ? Just as Kid N Drei say, ain’t no thing as an off-season…

MARLZ_DOZING Kid Marly Marlz sure looks beat. A long season will do that to even the most hyper-active “kid”…

MARLZ_ DREI WAKING HIM UP Wake up Kid ! We still gotta get back to L.A. Hey Kid ! How ’bout some holiday beats ? Heck, Santa Drei will even let you play with your favorite mascot buddy from up north, The Mariner Moose, an appropriate mascot for this time of year given that Rudy the Red Nose Reindeer could use always use some help from his distant cousin…

Extra Innings…

MARLZ_DREI HOLIDAY CARD Hey, the snow finally cleared !  Happy Holidays !!!
